The historic home of a prominent doctor in early Conroe received a historical marker Dec. 12. The Montgomery County Historical Commission dedicated a marker at the home of Dr. Thomas S. Falvey in downtown Conroe. His former home now serves as the headquarters for the nonprofit Child Advocates of Montgomery County.

THOMAS S. FALVEY HOME

Included in the rich history of Conroe, Texas, is The Falvey Home.  Constructed in 1929, this was the personal residence of Dr. Thomas Seymore Falvey (1874 – 1948) and his wife, Ruby Evans Falvey, who was originally a nurse by profession. Dr. Falvey was a pillar of Conroe’s society from 1918 until his passing in 1948. The house in Conroe’s downtown area has served several important purposes through the years but still maintains many of its original elements and charm.  The influence of Conroe’s history is evident in its construction, which also makes it sturdy and unique.  As Conroe’s first surgeon, Dr. Falvey was involved in several businesses in the area, making him well-known as a physician, entrepreneur, and humanitarian of his time while also greatly impacting Conroe’s future growth and prosperity.
