The Children’s Commission will host a webinar on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. entitled “Ties that Bind—Supporting Kinship Care.” 

The panel will include the following speakers:

• Hon. Stephani Logue, Judge of the North Texas Child Protection Court, moderator
• Nicole Love, Staff Attorney for the Texas Legal Service Center’s Kincare Project, and
• Kelly Elrod, Kinship Navigator with ACH Child and Family Services.

The webinar will address unique considerations for informal and formal kinship caregivers, such as identifying legal, financial, and mental health barriers; improving communication; navigating safety plans; bridging service gaps; and accessing resources. Panelists will offer practice tips as well as strategies to better support kin first placement goals while balancing child safety, family reunification, and permanency planning.
